Police in Ntungamo district is holding three students alleged to have stabbed a doctor at Itojo Hospital.

Police in Ntungamo district is holding three students alleged to have stabbed a doctor at Itojo Hospital.

The victim, Dr. Moses Asiimwe is the District Laboratory Focal Person who also doubles as a lab technician at Itojo Hospital.

According to Rwizi regional police spokesperson Samson Kasasira, Dr. Asiimwe was attacked by three students of Hill Side Academy Itojo on Sunday evening at around 8pm.

Kasasira says Asiimwe was attacked from the staff quarters and stubbed with a knife under his umbilical cord, leaving his internal organs exposed.

The suspects were identified by police as Derrick Amanya, (S.2), Musiime Ahabyoona, (S.4) and Kelly Muhumuza (S.3).

Moses is still admitted at Mbarara Referral hospital nursing wounds after a serious operation.

The police mouthpiece says the students at the school were reported to have been threatening to attack the lab technician and stealing his property on several occasions, being their immediate neighbor.

Kasasira adds that investigations into the matter are underway.
