Muslims Celebrate Eid AlAdha, Government Challenged on Security Matters

Government has been tasked to strengthen security so as to stop gun killings that have become rampant across the country.

Government has been tasked to strengthen security so as to stop gun killings that have become rampant across the country.

The call was made by Deputy Supreme Mufti, Sheikh Mahmood Kibate during Eid Adhuha prayers at Kibuli Mosque.

According to a concerned Kibate, almost all the news in Uganda lately is about murder and guns. His concern comes barely a day after a veterinary doctor; Dr. Salongo Kato was murdered in Kasangati by unknown gunmen.

It also comes after murder charges were confirmed against the suspects in murders of different Muslim clerics by the criminal division of High Court.

Sheihk Kibate also encouraged Muslims to educate their children for a better future.

"Educate your children. Look around, everyone wants to work with an educated person" Sheikh Kibate said.

He also called upon government to pay attention to what children are taught, considering new reports that some schools are teaching young children about homosexuality, in disguise of sex education.

He urged believers to slaughter and share animals in respect of today’s celebrations if they are to live in harmony and follow the example of Ibrahim who was willing to sacrifice his only son Ismail to Allah.

"Ibrahim was a giver. If you claim to be Ibrahim’s descendants, learn how to give."

In rather an unpleasant manner, a section of Muslims turned up with placards for Eid prayers at Nakivubo blue primary school. Some Muslims are holding placards questioning the delayed trial of their leaders Amirul Ummah, Sheikh Mohammad Yunus Kamoga and other sheikhs/ Sheikhats who are in Kigo and Luzira prisons.

They are demanding for a quick trial of the case in which the leaders are accused of murdering muslim clerics in different parts of the country.

Meanwhile at old Kampala, prayers were led by Mufti of Uganda, his eminence Sheikh Shaban Mubajje who urged the youth to involve themselves in developmental and government programs like operation wealth creation.
